Motorcycle Accident In Lakeview

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Thursday afternoon (June 20) in Lakeview.

The accident happened at approximately 3:00 p.m. near Grace Street and Lake Shore Drive.    It involved a motorcyclist who fell off his motorcycle suddenly, who was subsequently hit by a taxi that was unable to stop fast enough to avoid the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Joseph Woss, 31.  He was pronounced dead at 4:09 p.m. at Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

The accident remains under investigation.

Motorcyclist Dies After Accident In Morton Grove

There was a motorcycle accident in Morton Grove, Illinois early in the morning Wednesday (June 12).  The motorcyclist later died from his injuries.

The accident happened around 4:00 a.m. as the motorcyclist was driving east on Golf Road.  The motorcyclist, said to be riding at a high rate of speed, hit a curb near Golf Road and Oleander Avenue and lost control of his bike.

The motorcyclist, identified as Carl Robello, 24, of Glenview, was hospitalized and died of his injuries early Thursday morning at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

According to Morton Grove Police Commander Paul Yaras, Robello was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Robello’s blood-alcohol concentration after the crash 0.20 percent — 2.5 times the legal limit of 0.08 percent, Yaras said, adding that it appears Robello was not wearing a helmet.

Fatal Motorcycle Accident On Chicago’s South Side

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Friday night on Chicago’s South Side.

According to Chicago Police, the accident happened at approximately 9:15 p.m., as a motorcyclist was heading south on Western Avenue.  The motorcycle hit a curb in the 7600 block of South Western Avenue, causing a loss of control.  The motorcycle then struck a light pole after leaving the roadway.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Robert Poindexter, 32, of Chicago.  He was declared dead at the accident scene.

Motorcycle Accident In Chicago’s Marquette Park Neighborhood

There was a motorcycle accident early this morning in Chicago’s Marquette Park neighborhood.

The accident involved a motorcycle with a passenger crashing into a parked Chicago Police car at 12:45 a.m. at South Western Avenue and West 71st Street.

During the accident, the motorcycle’s driver, said to be a 40-year-old male, was ejected from the motorcycle.  His injuries included broken bones.

The passenger, said to be a 22-year-old woman, was pinned under the police car following the accident; the Chicago Fire Department was called to extract her from under the car.  She suffered broken bones and other injuries.

Both the motorcyclist and the passenger were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Police believe that either drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
