On Tuesday night (August 20, 2013) there was a fatal hit & run accident in West Rogers Park involving an 83-year-old man.
The hit & run accident involved an SUV that struck the man as he was in a crosswalk, at Devon and California, at approximately 6:00 p.m. According to a witness, the SUV was speeding at the time of impact.
The man, who has been identified as Norman David Esho, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston following the accident, where he died of his injuries.
As of Wednesday morning, neither the driver or the SUV had been identified. Police say the SUV is maroon or red, and a GMC or Chevrolet.

There was a fatal hit & run accident in Chicago’s Gresham neighborhood this morning (July 17), resulting in the death of a 77-year-old resident.
The accident happened at 83rd and Racine at approximately 7:00 a.m.
The man was hit by a vehicle described by Chicago Police as a dark-colored, two-door Mercedes C230. The car model was described as 2002-2005. The car sustained damage to the windshield and driver-side hood.
The victim of the hit & run was Arthur Johnson, who just today turned 77 years old. He was pronounced dead at 7:56 a.m., after having been taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Surveillance video from a nearby business of the incident captured the accident. Witness Dorothy Hunter-Brown says the driver of the black car was speeding before he hit Arthur Johnson.
“He had to be going at least 80-miles-per hour,” said Hunter-Brown.

There was a hit & run accident in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood (Chicago’s South Side) Friday night (June 14) that led to the death of the victim.
The accident happened at approximately 11:00 p.m. at 32nd Place and Morgan Street.
The accident happened as a woman was crossing the street as she was taking out the garbage from a local gallery. As she was doing so, a car struck her and continued driving. According to witness statements, the car was driving at a high rate of speed (described as “extremely fast”) and the impact of the collision threw the woman about 100 feet, at which point she landed on the rear glass of a parked car.
The woman has been identified as Carissa Hinz, 21.
According to Chicago Police, the car and its driver have yet to be found. The car has been described by witnesses as a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Honda Accord.
