Two pedestrians were struck by a car in Chicago’s River North area on Thursday night, May 23. The man who struck them has been cited for DUI.
The women were crossing Ontario, between LaSalle and Wells, when they were hit by a car heading westbound on Ontario at approximately 10:10 p.m.
The two women injured, both 26 years old, were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
The driver who hit them has been identified as Michael Lapato, 26, of Lisle. According to the Chicago Police Department, he has been charged with DUI, negligent driving, failure to reduce speed, and failure to yield to pedestrians.
